Experimental Methods of Reactivity Determination
There are two main experimental methods for fundamental reactor physics measurements: kinetic and static.
- Static methods are used to determine time independent core characteristics. These methods can be used to describe phenomena that occur independently of time. On the other hand they cannot be used to determine most dynamic characteristics.
- Kinetic methods are used to study parameters (parameters of delayed neutrons etc.) which determine short-term and medium-term kinetics.
